27. Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life? 28. "And why do you worry about clothes? See how the lilies of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
In another powerful vision of God's marvelous provision, we see that if God gave us life, we can surely trust Him for lesser things like food and clothing. Worry, after all, accomplishes nothing. Most situations are beyond our control, leaving us with one choice: to trust. If God clothes the flowers, making them beautiful for just one day, imagine the eternal beauty and care He wants to provide for you.
Worry often plagues those who do not know or understand God. Pastor Foreman wisely says, "The cure for worry is a deeper knowledge of God—a complete surrender of self and a resting in Him." When we grasp who God is, worry fades.
We often say, "Hindsight is better than foresight," and it rings true in faith. Through life’s difficulties and uncertainties, we learn valuable lessons. Reflecting on how God has sustained us in the past builds confidence in His ongoing care. He will never stop caring for His children.
When we come to God does He turn us away? No. When we confess and seek His forgiveness, He responds with grace, not condemnation. He provides salvation, forgiveness, and everything we need to live for His kingdom and fulfill His purposes.
I am humbled when I consider my own weaknesses and inabilities, yet time and again, God proves strong in my weakness. He always equips us with the resources needed to carry out His will. Will God ever lead us into situations that He cannot handle? Of course not! His provision is faithful.
We should start to worry when we are living in sin and not according to God's will and purpose for us. Anxiety may very well be a signal that all is not right spiritually. When we give God control of our lives, confessing our sins and our worries, we open the door for His peace to work. Worry arises when we try to take matters into our own hands instead of relying on God's provision. That doesn’t mean we sit back and do nothing, expecting God to drop solutions into our laps. God is not our servant to fulfill our every demand, but He does promise to provide as we seek His kingdom first.
Application: “Consider the beauty of a lily”: Solomon, with all his wealth, couldn’t come close to its splendor. The clothing God provides isn’t made from fine fabrics or designer labels—it’s woven with purity, righteousness, joy, and peace. The world’s treasures fade, but nothing can steal the Holy Spirit or take away the joy, peace, and security that comes from God.
Prayer: Lord, let me fully grasp who You are as I seek Your kingdom first.
