21 Another disciple said to him, “Lord, first let me go and bury my father.”
22 But Jesus told him, “Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead.”

Here is a writing from an unknown author entitled USE ME OH LORD.

“Use me Lord! But, NOT just now; As soon as I'm out of college, and paid all the debts I've carried; As soon as I've done my Army stint, as soon as I've gotten married;  I want you to use me, Oh Lord, Use me, Oh Lord, but NOT just not. As soon as I get promoted, As soon as the house is built; as soon as my psychiatrist says that I'm freed from guilt; I want you to use me, Oh Lord Use me, Oh Lord, But Not just now. As soon as I've paid the mortgage, As soon as the kids are grown; As soon as they've finished college, as soon as they're on their own; I want you to use me, Oh Lord, Use me, Oh Lord, but NOT Just now, As soon as I've reached retirement. As soon as we're getting ahead; as soon as I draw my pension, Just as soon as I'm dead. I want you to use, Oh Lord, use me, Oh Lord, Yes NOW Oh Lord.”

Jesus says, "Let the dead bury the dead." There are many who are spiritually dead and love to make excuses not to participate in labor for God's kingdom. So, let them busy themselves in their simple and meaningless projects, but God has more important things for us to do than wait around for people who are not in obedience.

The point is that when you are in kingdom service, the relationships of this earth ought to take on a new and different meaning. Jesus taught that when people said, Jesus, your mother and brothers and sisters are outside waiting for you. Jesus replied who are my mother and brother and sisters?

Many Jews disown their children if their children become followers of Jesus Christ. Many people when they say yes to the Lordship of Christ get unbelievable objection from family members and when that is the case, Jesus warned commitments will be divisive. Many parents are not in favor of their children going into full time ministry.  There are many parents that will not say good-bye to their children whom God calls to the foreign mission field. There are parents who say at dedication, "Lord this child dedicated to you.", but when God calls that child later in teen years or young adulthood the parents refuses and fights the will of the Lord. If you go with God don't look back and return to old sins and old attachments that hinder you from obedience to His will.

Application:  Will you respond now with the priority of what God would have you do? Friends whatever God calls us to do it with a whole heart. Do not procrastinate. The kingdom is calling for priorities, not excuses.

Prayer:  Lord, strengthen me to follow you NOW!   "For it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose." Phil 2:13   Do this in me O Lord.
