8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work. 9 As it is written:
“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
their righteousness endures forever.”
10 Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. 12 This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God
The Kingdom also grows constantly. Sometimes we don’t notice. I remember someone returning from a short trip remarking how much the crops have grown in the week they were gone. I didn’t notice it when I lived on the block day by day. When I was gone, I had the same experience. The plants were noticeably larger and more mature. They are constantly at work growing and developing and building and getting stronger as is God’s kingdom.
Children grow so fast. Look at all the changes in the annual school pictures. For us the change is gradual, but it is happening bit by bit. We see the changes in our grandchildren developing, growing through the various stages. Their interests mature along with the changes in their voice and body.
Remember that the Kingdom of God is doing that. Continually the Spirit of God is moving to accomplish His plan here on earth. Continually He is preparing the way for Christ’s return. More and more are coming to faith all over the world. There is reason for hope and encouragement.
There were twelve disciples starting to spread the word around Jerusalem. The believers were scattered under persecution and the word spread to outlining areas. The Gentiles accepted the word and it mushroomed into the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and Africa. Someone told someone else and they told others and believers were added daily to the church. Who are you telling? For God is working. You can be part of that blessing.
Don’t take lightly the Sunday school classes, the VBS promotions, the camping ministry. Don’t take lightly the Christmas and Easter programs or the Scripture memorization. Don’t take lightly your consistent prayers and gifts in the offering for missions. Don’t take lightly the events for men and women in our community allowing invitations for fellowship and for worship. Don’t take lightly the tracts given or the invitation to picnics or concerts. There will be conversations at work or school that God can use. Cultivate friendships with those for whom you are praying and watch the plants grow by God’s grace. It starts small, but it doesn’t stay there.
Application: Examine your life, who are you telling.
Prayer: Lord, we cannot begin to know what we have been given by the Scripture. As I share it, I can know that the "one thing" we do may do 100 things as the Word is shared. To God be he Glory!
