Happy Thanksgiving - Psalm 95:1,2
November 28, 2024, 9:00 AM

“Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song.”

Happy Thanksgiving!

On this holiday in our country there were people desiring to set aside a day to thank the Lord for our blessings and privileges. Abraham Lincoln proclaimed the last day of November to be set apart for thanksgiving and praise, even during the Civil War. He also recommended that Americans pray for the return of peace and harmony.

That is just as appropriate today as in 1863. May our hearts be filled with thanksgiving, praise, and prayers for peace in the conflicts this world is experiencing.

Below was something in my Thanksgiving file. No reference is given to the author, but it is appropriate in our thoughts and prayers:

I am Thankful for...

. ...the taxes I pay

. ...because it means I'm employed.

the clothes that fit a little too snug

. ...because it means I have enough to eat.

....my shadow who watches me work because it means I am out in the sunshine.

. ...a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning and

. ...gutters that need fixing

. ...because it means I have a home.

the spot I find at the far end of the parking lot . ...because it means I am capable of walking.

. .. .my huge heating bill because it means I am warm.

. ...all the complaining I hear about our government . ...because it means we have freedom of speech.

. ...the lady behind me in church who sings off key.

.because it means that I can hear.

....the piles of laundry and ironing

. ...because it means my loved ones are nearby.

. ...the alarm that goes off in the early morning hours because it means that I'm alive.

. ...weariness and aching muscles at the end of the day because it means I have been productive.

That's sincere gratefulness!

Prayer: Oh give thanks unto the Lord for he is good, his love endures forever. Lord today I pray for those who don’t have all of these things in their minds. May your mercy be poured out on in provision. Teach me to be the person who meet those needs.
