K- KING DAVID - Psalm 111:1-10
November 28, 2025, 3:36 PM

1Praise the Lord. I will extol the Lord with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly.

2 Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.
3 Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever.
4 He has caused his wonders to be remembered; the Lord is gracious and compassionate.
5 He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever
6 He has shown his people the power of his works, giving them the lands of other nations.
7 The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy.
8 They are established for ever and ever, enacted in faithfulness and uprightness.
9 He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever—
holy and awesome is his name.

10 The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding.
    To him belongs eternal praise.

I really should have made this letter in my outline of testimonies a D, but there are no D’s in the word Thanksgiving, and I didn’t want to leave him out. There is no one who has more songs of praise and thanksgiving in the Bible than King David. He is specifically noted as the author of 73 psalms in the titles of the psalms. David is one who gives thanks through his music and words. Many of his songs are written for public expressions giving thanks to the Lord.

When Peter was miraculously released from prison by an angel the believers exclaimed in Acts 4:24 … “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them. 25 You spoke by the Holy Spirit through the mouth of your servant, our father David.” They saw David’s songs also as Scriptures from the Holy Spirit,

When we celebrate Thanksgiving in America points to the pilgrims who shared food after a harvest. Food is always a reason for thanksgiving and prayer. We have what we call “grace“ before the meals. That means we realize the grace of God in providing daily food and other provisions. All Gods’ works are to be praised. We need to remind each other of His actions.

One of the ways we do that is by coming together in services of worship. We are reminded of God’s goodness. We pray, sing, share and give together to the Lord.

I am grateful for those with musical talents, and SS teachers and youth group leaders, and CE workers and those who give, but it is God who makes it all possible.
